This two day interactive training will teach participants how to use the core skills of Motivational Interviewing to work with at-risk populations in an effective and strategic way. Motivational Interviewing builds on Carl Rogers' optimistic and humanistic theories about people's capabilities for exercising free choice and changing through a process of self-actualization. Essentially, Motivational Interviewing activates the capability for beneficial change that everyone possesses. These skills are essential for helping professionals working with at risk individuals. This class is accredited through the Department of Behavioral Health for Certified Addiction Counselor training.
